als Antwort auf: adopt previous anchor #2995

I have now created several new projects and could not reproduce „adopt previous anchor“. Has anyone else seen this before?

you can choose for yourself, both are possible. In this case I would recommend to change the name of the idx file, so that the document name is preserved and the authors and editors do not get confused. Idx then creates a new project each time. The advantage of this is that you can work with new folders (and date) accordingly. Hope this helps with the decision.

als Antwort auf: InDesign cross references #2961

in which form the „see also“ appears in the final index is determined by the source documents and can be defined in InDesign or in Word itself. Does this answer your question?

Hi, if I understand you correctly, the newly duplicated ones should all be moved together to a new position. Then you can definitely make it easier with the new function in the toolbar in the text window:small triangle on the right and check adopt to previous anchor.
Then you have to insert one duplicated entry after the other to the toolbar via right mouse button and the command Update entry.
    Happy New Year to you.

Hi, Index Manager is XML-based. It loads XML data from a document and generates the view from it using an HTML stylesheet. In Word, some of the normal heading styles are standardized. These have been adopted for the view in IDX. The rest is marked with „?“ in the structure window. These headings are displayed in the full text window and can also be selected there for index entries.
In InDesign, most headings are defined individually, with almost all headings preceded by „?“ in the structure window. Hope this answers your question.

Hi, a simple solution might be the following small detour: first create entries with the same main entry (your subentry) and different subentries (your main entries). This is done by using the toolbar-> small triangle on the right: „clear levels after creating entry“. If you unhook this feature, the main entry will be kept, and you can quickly create entries with different subentries.
Finally, select all these entries in the index list and swap first and second levels using the index action „swap level“.

for me the search box in the text window works with ctrl+f. This depends on the language and keyboard settings. You can check the shortcuts currently valid for your system and the currently selected language under extras->options->Shortcuts and change them if necessary.

That’s not directly possible. I would use the page number formats: for word documents bold and italic, for InDesign documents, the formats displayed in the drop-down menu in the toolbar in the text window. The page number format must then be replaced into a t behind a page number in the last step after construction of the final index.

als Antwort auf: Index Window columns #2931

The user interface is saved project-specifically. A different column selection in the index list can be useful for each project. When opening the program and a new project, the default selection (all columns) is displayed.
Hope this explains the different column selections you obeserved.

We figured it out. The regular expression for this particular task is (don’t forget to activate rx and select the appropriate column):
    Search:(^[0-9-,]+)(.*) and Replace: \1\2;\2\1
If the function is used frequently, it is useful to create a new function in the „Index-Action“ window. Or save the regular expression in the notes window if you want to apply the action in the „Edit“ window.
These two links to regex are very good, especially the test platform for creative testing.
