Creating a single index from multiple Word documents

I recently indexed a book where each chapter arrived separately and out of order. Both I and my client wanted to view the index for all chapters in a single index which meant researching how to do this. There was no complete advice as to how to achieve this.

As a result, Jan Wright and I have been working on a document which helps and sets out the steps to achieve this. You can access the document as a PDF via my website.
