InDesign cross references

I would like the cross references to appear in InDesign as they are set in IDX. eg if I create <see also> as my cross reference, I need that to be set as a custom cross reference in InDesign rather than stay as the default of <See also>. (ie not capitalised)

in which form the „see also“ appears in the final index is determined by the source documents and can be defined in InDesign or in Word itself. Does this answer your question?

Not quite. I understand what you are saying but as far as I can see, each see also needs to be individually changed.
